Few conversations about "classic" rafting holidays go much further than talking about the Grand Canyon. For those of you who have seen the Grand Canyon from the rim, that in itself is a stunning experience, set amidst gorgeous granite and marble walls, camp on spectacular beaches with just the sound of the Colorado River in the background to send you to sleep. Visit ancient Native American ruins high above the Grand Canyon River and view the scenic beauty of this canyon. Run the rapids that Major John Powell ran in this gorge in the late 1800s in wooden dories. Similar boats are still in use in the Grand Canyon! Be amazed at the cleanliness of the campsites and absolute beauty of this area... There is frequently a two-year waiting list for a commercial trip and up to 12 years for a private trip. Trip Itinerary |
Day 1:
Fly into Flagstaff. Enjoy small town America. No meals included. Day 2:
Early breakfast and drive to Lees Ferry you will be outfitted with the remainder of your equipment, given a full and comprehensive safety talk as well as paddle instructions. Included: All meals. Days 3-15:
Each day, run amazing rapids such as the famous Crystal, Granite and the original Lava as well as awesome blast rapids such as Hermit! White sandy beaches, gorgeous side hikes everyday. Many people never get to sample the beauty of the Grand Canyon from within. Your trip on the river finishes at Diamond Creek where you are met and taken back to Flagstaff for a post-trip meal. You have every reason to feel proud of yourself! You have completed one of the best river trips in the world. Overnight in Flagstaff. All meals included, except dinner on night 15. Day 16 :
Depart the hotel for Flagstaff airport and connect to your flight back home! |
