Overview

2008 will mark the 39th year that Tour West, Inc. has been providing whitewater rafting trips on rivers throughout the West. While many things have changed in the river running business, their philosophy has remained the same A river trip is more than a vacation, it is an experience. The Colorado River that flows through the Grand Canyon has intrigued the minds and lives of men since first being conquered by John Wesley Powell in 1869. Since then very few people go on a river trip and come back unchanged. Tour West feels fortunate to be part of that remarkable experience.

Tour West is a family owned business, currently with three generations involved and a fourth just beginning. The owner, Frank Stratton, was a school teacher and farmer before he became involved in the river industry. It all started when a friend invited him to go on a raft trip through the Grand Canyon and the rest is history… They soon organized Tour West, Inc. and began providing rafting trips to the public. Eventually, Frank Stratton became the sole owner of Tour West and made it what it is today.

Tour West feels that their greatest assets are their guides. They are friendly, knowledgeable, and skilled. The trip leaders have an average of 18+ years of guiding experience. While they come from many different backgrounds, one thing that they all share is a love for the river.

Tour West invites you to experience one of the great rivers in the West and have an adventure of a lifetime!
