Snake River Pedal & Paddle

The Salmon River and Snake River canyons are big country. The same is true for mountain bike rides. Imagine the thrill of descending over 5,000 feet in just a few hours from the rim of Hells Canyon to the Snake River. If you want, you can ride up it first — but you don’t have to! Riding opportunities are endless in central Idaho and span from challenging singletrack through demanding terrain to picturesque rides along forest service roads suitable for the whole family.

Northwest Voyageurs' Peddle & Paddle expeditions begin with several days of customized riding. Base camps are established and supported, meaning your only job is to enjoy yourself on the trails and relax when you get to camp. You can explore the terrain above Hells Canyon, enjoy a pleasure ride to the Burgdorf Hot Springs, or take on a knuckle-bruising descent known as Cannonball Run. Each night, ride into a lavish camp and enjoy signature gourmet meals.

After several days of riding, trade bikes in for paddles and a rubber raft. Spend days floating through majestic canyons and braving some of the biggest rapids found in the Northwest. For an incredible week long adventure, you can combine two to three days of riding with a Hells Canyon or Salmon River Canyon trip. If you have a shorter itinerary in mind, a two-day ride combined with an overnight Salmon River trip is a great multi-sport sampler.

Notes

This active adventure combines two exciting modes of human-powered transportation to experience the breathtaking beauty of Idaho's backcountry. First you'll ride mountain bikes high above the rivers and canyon floor. Ride on the rim of Hells Canyon to scenic vistas and old fire lookouts. The entire ride has indescribable views of the Snake and Salmon River canyons. Or you can ride in the Salmon River Mountains, along historic mining trails to ghost towns deep in the backcountry. Choose from day rides, with nights at the Little Salmon Lodge, or a multi-day backcountry ride with camping out under the stars.

After your mountain bike adventure, you will experience the rafting journey of a lifetime. Take in the whitewater of the mighty Salmon or brave the rapids of the Snake River in Hells Canyon. Both trips include awesome beach camping and Class II, III, and IV whitewater.

There are many different itineraries and dates available for Pedal & Paddle trips. Please call and Northwest can help you customize the inspiring active adventure.

Northwest Voyageurs customizes all Pedal & Paddle trips for each person. You can combine one to four days of mountain biking with one to five days of whitewater rafting. Since the combinations are endless, writing an itinerary would be impossible.
