Named after William Clark of the famous Lewis & Clark expedition, the Alberton Gorge of the Clark Fork River boasts some of the biggest and best whitewater in Montana. Located approximately 35 miles west of Missoula, the trip through the Gorge is lined by stunning cliffs on either side of the river as you encounter a multitude of big waves and Class II-III rapids with names like Boat Eater, Cliffside, Fang and Tumbleweed.
Although the rapid names imply otherwise, the Alberton Gorge is truly a fantastic family trip typically suitable for children 7 years and older.
Northwest Voyageurs offers full-day trips through Alberton Gorge departing from Missoula. Please call early to reserve your departure date.
