New England Outdoor Center was the first company in Maine to exclusively use self-bailing Maravia rafts and continues to be the leader in using the best boats and equipment. NEOC’s two primary rafting rivers, the Kennebec located in the western mountains and the Penobscot in the Katahdin/Baxter State Park region, are the two major waterways. The water flows are controlled by hydroelectric dams ensuring consistent and predictable flows. The Dead, which flows into the Kennebec, is also dam-controlled and rafted on select dates in the spring and fall. These are spectacular rivers - wild, scenic, challenging and exhilarating. You’ll know when you are in the wilderness when your raft in Maine. With easy access from Camden, Bar Harbor, Boothbay, Bangor or Portland, you can be looking at lighthouses in the afternoon and relaxing in raft country later that evening.
