Glacier Wilderness Guides/Montana Raft Company has been guiding rafting trips on the North and Middle Forks of the Flathead River for fourteen years, using the same high standards that make their backpacking trips so successful. Both rivers run along the boundary of Glacier National Park and have been designated as two of America’s Wild and Scenic Rivers. Whether you join them for a half-day whitewater trip or an extended overnight float, you can expect a great ride from their friendly, experienced guides.
They offer two types of raft trips, paddle or row. In a rowboat you can sit back, relax and take in all the scenery as your guide propels and maneuvers the raft down the river with two large oars. On the other hand, if you want to take part in the action, you’ll prefer a paddle raft. Following the simple commands of your guide, you actually become part of the crew. This is definitely the most exciting way to float a river.
For the extra adventurous, try a ride in an inflatable kayak. These stable two-person crafts offer a sportier paddling experience with wetsuit and helmet included.
All half and full-day trips are run on the Middle Fork, which offers a variety of Class II through Class IV rapids in the John Stevens Canyon. These intermediate rapids are fun and splashy without being dangerous.
