After leaving Desolation and Gray Canyons just north of the town of Green River, Utah, the "Rio San Buena Ventura", as Spanish explorers named the Green River, flows calmly south for more than 100 miles before joining the Colorado River deep in the heart of Canyonlands National Park. This stretch offers one of the country's premier canoeing opportunities. Paddling through Stillwater and Labyrinth Canyons leads one to understand why the Dominguez/Escalante expedition members were inspired to assign the apellation "River of the Beautiful Journey".
Canoe Rental Packages: Moki Mac offers rental packages (canoes, paddles, and lifejackets) on a per-day basis for the 70-mile "do it yourself" run from Green River State Park to Mineral Bottom. They suggest you take at least three days for the trip, though four to five is better. Transportation or shuttle services for launches and take-outs are also available.

| Please Note: BLM/NPS regulations require that all river groups on this section of the Green obtain and use portable sanitation facilities. Moki Mac sells a simple system - $50.00 per unit. It is absolutely mandatory that you carry out all human waste from Labyrinth Canyon! Fire pans are required for camp fires. One whistle per boat is required. |
