The Green River meanders south from Green River City, down through the San Rafael Desert and then into the red rock country of Canyonlands National Park. Before reaching the confluence with the Colorado River, the Green flows through stunning Labyrinth and Stillwater Canyons. Spanish explorers named it Rio San Buena Ventura, "River of the Beautiful Journey", an apt appellation for this stretch of the river. This area provides beautiful scenery and flat water ideal for canoe trips. (A couple of minor riffles but no major rapids.)
Moki Mac's outfitted canoe trips, like their regular six-day Cataract Canyon trip schedule, launches at Mineral Canyon. Paddle down to the Confluence of the Green and Colorado Rivers in a two-person canoe, accompanied by support rafts and guides.
At the head of Cataract Canyon canoeists switch to the rafts and continue the trip through the rapids of Cataract Canyon.
Meet in Green River City the evening prior to the trip. The following morning, fly from Green River to Mineral Canyon for the river launch. At the end of the river trip, they’ll return you by van or bus to Green River from Hite Marina. You can drive to Green River and leave your car at their place. If you are flying out, book your flight into Salt Lake City, Utah, or Grand Junction, Colorado, and rent a car or take a van shuttle for the drive to Green River.
