The Middle Fork is perfect for an adventure in a more remote and beautiful wilderness canyon with many rapids - ranging from many Class II playful ones, several Class III and Class IV interesting and exciting rapids, to the awesome Class V Tunnel Chute! This river is for the adventuresome first-time rafter and experienced rafters ready for the next challenge. The thrill of the Middle Fork is the Tunnel Chute Rapid, which was created by Gold Rush miners. Here the river drops through a narrow chute and into a flat water tunnel through the mountainside. The result is an exciting, adrenaline rush-roller-coaster-ride rapid. You can always stop to scout this rapid; then you choose to run it, or enjoy the view from the walk around!
The overnight campsite is on the banks of the river with a large sandy beach. Across the river is an awesome thousand-foot cliff.
