This intensive eight-day workshop is designed for those wishing to work as commercial river guides as well as people wanting to gain in-depth knowledge of safe rafting techniques for their own private adventures. The emphasis is on learning to read whitewater, Class III-IV safety techniques, boat handling and maneuvering, camp cooking, river conservation, and the overall methods of providing a safe and fun river experience. Your instructors will emphasize increasing your verbal skills, self-confidence and abilities to be an effective team player and leader. Instruction will be both on land and on the water. Basic instruction will be given on the South Fork American River. If water level permits, you may also have the chance to raft on the North Fork and Middle Fork American.
