Overview
Mariah Wilderness Expeditions, specialists in California rafting, began in 1982 when co-owner Donna Hunter turned her passion for whitewater rafting into a business. Co-owner Nancy Byrnes joined MARIAH in 1988, and her involvement comes from a long-lasting love of outdoor activities. Early in 2001, Donna and Nancy did some creative rearranging of their business relationship. Nancy became sole owner of Mariah Costa Rica, and Donna became sole owner of Mariah Wilderness Expeditions.
Today, with over 22 years of rafting and taking over 100,000 happy guests down the rivers, Mariah Wilderness Expeditions has become one of the largest and most successful whitewater rafting companies in California.
Mission Statement
Mariah Wilderness Expeditions provides the highest quality, safest and most exciting river journeys for kids from 5 to 95. Mariah strives to thrill, educate, enrich and increase their guests' awareness of the wilderness as they float down the history-laden waterways of California's Gold Country. Mariah is the benchmark by which all other river companies measure their offerings.

Safety Record
Mariah Wilderness Expeditions has one of the best safety records of any rafting company. Their guides are each trained in not only whitewater guiding skills, but also in CPR and First Aid by the Red Cross. Each is also trained in people-skills, in understanding their guests' expectations and skill levels. Together with their excellent equipment, highly trained and enthusiastic staff, beautiful campsites and delicious food, their guests' safety, comfort and enjoyment are always the company's top priorities.
