The Lower Salmon River offers a 71-mile wilderness experience. You will enjoy 53 Salmon River miles plus 18 miles on the Snake River.
On the Salmon River, you will be guaranteed a large measure of solitude. It has four spectacularly colorful canyons and is the longest free flowing river in the lower 48 states. It is rated a Class III river. This river does not have water as big as the Snake, however it is a more technical river. Along the river are white sandy camping beaches where river runners shed their life jackets for swimming and playing in beautiful, clear, cool river pools.
Some of the rapids you will experience are Half & Half, Bodacious Bounce, Zig Zag, and Snowhole.
Equipment and Accommodations: Idaho Afloat provides all the river equipment including tents, freshly laundered sleeping bags, pillows and deluxe self-inflating sleeping pads. They use Coast Guard approved life jackets for everyone and helmets for kayakers and paddle boaters. Their professional, licensed and experienced guides share the canyons secrets, guide you safely through the rapids, but are incredible camp cooks. All meals are provided starting with lunch the first day through lunch the last day. On most trips, a supply raft will carry all the gear to camp and this allows you to have plenty of fresh fruit, vegetables, meat and as much soda, beer and wine as possible.
