Overview
Idaho Afloat provides deluxe whitewater rafting adventures on the Snake River, through Hells Canyon, the Main Salmon "The River of No Return," and on the Lower Salmon River. Their trips offer families, first-time and experienced river rafters a variety of multi-day soft adventure excitement. The Snake River through Hells Canyon (rated Class IV) is the deepest canyon in North America and has the most powerful white water in the Northwest. You will run the rapids, see ancient pictographs, explore old homesteads, hike riverside trails, and have time to relax and enjoy the sounds of nature. The Lower Salmon River Gorge (Class III) offers solitude, four spectacular canyons, and incredible white sandy beaches with clear and cool pools for swimming and daydreaming. Join Idaho Afloat for a whitewater rafting memory of a lifetime.
The Camp Comfortable riverside camps await you at the end of each day on the river. There you will discover your dining area complete with tables, camp chairs and even tablecloths. After you have settled into camp, your guides will prepare the evening’s hors d’oeuvers, complete with wine and beverages.
Now you can sit back and relax. Converse with old and new friends, take a short hike on one of the many well-maintained trails near the river, try your had at fishing for small-mouth bass and trout, watch the river deepen the gorge, keep an eye out for elusive wildlife, sit under a pine tree and read a book, or simply take a river-inspired nap.
The Food Idaho Afloat spares no effort or expense to make their river cuisine the best ever. Examples of the incredible meals they serve are banana walnut pancakes, Idaho Afloat scromlets (special scrambled omelette), bacon and sausage, fresh sandwiches, the best cuts of beef and salmon fillets, fresh vegetables and salads and, of course, their own fresh Idaho potatoes. The feeling at Idaho Afloat is that their excellent food is half the trip. That’s why so many of their guests have given them the well-earned nickname of “Idaho Abloat!”
Horsepacking and Two River Options For those who seek the finest whitewater rafting and outdoor experience, Idaho Afloat suggests a six-day combination trip. The first three days will be spent rafting the incredible whitewater of the Snake River in Hells Canyon or the Lower Salmon. On the fourth morning you will saddle up for three days of riding in the beautiful alpine mountains above the river or stay in a hunting lodge.
This is truly the trip for the guest who wants to see wildlife. It is not uncommon, even for the novice wildlife observer to see elk, deer, cougar, bear and eagles on this combination adventure. Idaho Afloat also offers a seven-day, two-river combination in which you can enjoy the magnificence of Hells Canyon and the spectacular Salmon River.
Custom Designed Fishing Adventures Idaho Afloat will be happy to assist you in designing your own fabulous fishing extravaganza. Their fall dates can be customized to fit the needs of your group, family or organization or just you.
Hells Canyon and the Salmon River Gorge are renowned for their fishing tales. But it is fact that during a day's fishing, it is not uncommon to catch and release 20 bass, trout or even catfish. Both the Snake and Salmon Rivers are home to the prehistoric sturgeon. This fish provides a unique fishing challenge.
During Idaho Afloat’s Summer Rafting Adventures they mainly fish for trout, bass, catfish and sturgeon. If, however, you or your group would like to place more emphasis on fishing and less on rafting and sight-seeing, they would be happy to customize a charter fishing trip for you during their regulated season.
By choosing one of Idaho Afloat’s carefully designed adventures, you have guaranteed yourself an experience that you will not soon forget.
Sit back and let it happen!
