Overview
Why choose Hells Canyon? Hells Canyon Raft has outfitted trips on the Snake River for over 20 years. They are the “Hells Canyon Specialists”. They do one trip at a time, and they do it right. The company owners feel it imperative to accompany each trip. They are the leaders in Hells Canyon.
Where the Snake River heads north and forms the border between Idaho and Oregon, it forms Hells Canyon, the deepest canyon in North America. You will delve into a region that is rich in myth and Culture. Nez Perce Indian legend claims that “Coyote dug Hells Canyon with a big stick to protect their ancestors in Oregon’s Blue mountains from the ‘Seven Devils’ across the gorge in what is now Idaho.” You can enjoy the splendor and untouched beauty of this majestic canyon while surging through exciting rapids.
Your safety is their #1 goal. Rapids should be respected, not feared. That’s why Hells Canyon Raft offers different styles of craft. Secure handholds, life jackets, and plenty of advance preparation ensure a fun experience. All boats are self-bailing, which means you never touch a bail bucket, unless it’s for a water fight. You choose your level of involvement, and always feel free to switch around!
HCR guides do the camp work and are experts at preparing bountiful and healthy meals. From their ice chests, they produce a seemingly unending supply of fresh meats, cheese, fruits, vegetables, and breads. Delicious breakfasts may be fresh fruit, with blueberry sourdough pancakes, or eggs benedict river style. Hearty lunches are riverside deli cold cuts with all the fixings so you can create your own version of the “Dagwood”. They like to think of dinner as a show. Fresh Alaskan Salmon, BBQ tenderloin steaks, Cornish game hens with rosemary, and fresh baked breads and deserts from Dutch ovens, all artfully prepared in a riverside kitchen. The best part is at the end; they do the dishes.
HCR’s guides are their cornerstones. The guides who work with them are professional, not just college kids on summer break. With a three to oneguest to guide ratio, your guides will truly become friends. They are all licensed by the States of Idaho and Oregon, and certified in Red Cross First Aid and CPR. They will captivate you with their knowledge of River Lore, safely transport you through some of the largest white water in the Northwest, and act as minstrels, gourmet chefs, and fishing guides.
All trips include accommodations the night before. Delicious full course meals are served from breakfast the first day to lunch the last day. One car shuttle per group is included. Professional river equipment including rafts and their accessories; coast guard approved life jackets; specially designed children’s life jackets; waterproof boxes for cameras, waterproof bags for personal gear; sleeping bags, tents and ground cloths for sleeping under the stars (there are no mosquitoes here); thick foam self inflating sleeping pads; comfortable camp chairs; dining tables; and their river library is available when you are in camp.
Let your journey take you through Hells Canyon and be an event of a lifetime! Most trips last three to six days and can be tailored to meet your vacation needs. Your outdoor adventure should be a Superior Experience with a Premier Company - Hells Canyon Raft, Inc.
