The Gunnison Gorge in the Black Canyon National Park - Gunnison River is a hidden jewel, off the beaten path tucked a mile deep in steep granite walls. This spectacular river is a paddler's and sportsman's paradise. These clear, cold waters have been designated a Gold Medal Trout Fishery. Its narrow river corridor creates exciting whitewater thrills and has been recommended for inclusion into the Black Canyon National Monument and Wild and Scenic System. Accessible only by foot or horseback, it is a wilderness canyon for those who are willing to go the extra mile. The trip down to the canyon floor requires minimal skills but ability to carry personal gear in soft dry packs provided by Dvorak's is needed. With every step the wilderness feeling deepens, and the solitude and scenery found at the river make the hike worth every step.

Trip Itinerary
Rafting/Kayaking/Custom Float Fishing: Pick up from the finish point at 7:00am. Transport to trailhead (Chuckar Trail) for one-mile hike into river. All gear is horsepacked in the day before. Backpack dry bags are provided for your personal gear to carry into river. All meals are prepared by your guides. All equipment for rafting and meals is provided. Camping gear and personal fishing tackle available for rent. You must have a valid fishing license if you are planning to fish. The trip will begin about 10:00am and finish at the meeting location (pick up point on day one) after 3:00pm on the last day. This trip is now included in the "Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park".

Custom fishing can be combined with rafting trips for groups (family) only. Full custom fishing expeditions are a separate cost and limited to eight total persons per trip.
Alternates dates available for groups of six to ten.
Reservation Policy
25% deposit required.
Cancellation Policy
If cancellations made more than 45 days prior to the trip, a non-refundable $50. Under 45 days up to 14 days prior to trip, the 25% is not refundable. Under 14 days, no refund is given.
