Class VI Staff
We named our company Class VI after the river classification system. Class VI implies professionalism and emphasizes our intention to provide the utmost in service, and that’s still our goal. We are as thrilled to paddle the New and Gauley Rivers as we were that first season, and gratified that so many friends and staff are still with us. We invite you to become part of the Class VI family.
| Gauley River National Recreation Area, WV
The free-flowing Gauley River and the Meadow River pass through scenic gorges and valleys containing a wide variety of natural and cultural features. The park encompasses 11,495 acres of land, and includes 25.5 miles of the Gauley River and 5.5 miles of the Meadow River. There are currently 4,092 acres in NPS ownership.

In 1978 four friends with similar dreams started Class VI River Runners. Dropping to three managing Directors, the remaining owners continue leading Class VI Rivers Runners with the same mission: “To provide world-class outfitting in adventure vacations.”

| New River Gorge National River, WV
The New River was designated an American Heritage River on July 30, 1998. There are currently fourteen American Heritage Rivers in the country. The park encompasses over 70,000 acres of land along the New River, is rich in cultural and natural history, and offers an abundance of scenic and recreational opportunities.
