Neil Hartling, founder, began his career on the world famous Nahanni River. He fortuitously won the rare outfitting license by saving the lives of a local native family who in turn granted him the privilege to guide on the river. According to Hartling “it is a fabled land, larger than life, and it exceeded my expectations. It never fails to impress our guests.” Over the years, he has introduced thousands of participants to the north and overseen the evolution of these trips to make them as comfortable, adventurous, educational and enjoyable as possible. There are also multi-sport, including hiking, photography, wildlife viewing, fishing, glacier walking, birding and wildflowers to name a few.

With over 30 unique rafting, canoeing, hiking and kayaking adventure travel trips – from 5 to 21 days - on 20 northern rivers, Canadian River Expeditions have been the leaders in river adventure for northern Canada and Alaska since 1972.
